Abstract

Old Assyrian texts found mainly in Kültepe besides Boğazköy,Alişar, Kalehöyük and Kayalıpınar locating in Anatolia not only enable us to have a certain information about Anatolia and Assur 4,000 years ago but also offer us singificantion formation about Assyrian traders who came Anatolia for making money and also about -although rarely- native Anatolian people. Although in these texts, many personal names have been mentioned, we have detailed information about only very few traders. This study draws up a portrait about an Assyrian trader named A??ur-r??î, who left his family in Assur andcame to Anatolia. Thesis contains two parts; part one is about how was the texts about him and his personal archive was found drawing upon archeological evidence. Afterwards, his relationships with hismother, father and brothers are tried to be put forward. Also, evidences about his wife and children were evaluated, too.Part two is about trading activities of A??ur-r??î. By evaluating bill of debt; documents about trade partnerships, the financial status of the trader who had stayed in Anatolia for 21 years was tried to be explained. Besides, his relationship with his partners in Assur and shipments sent to him from Assur were also analysed.
